The Environmental Commission advises the Township on all issues related to the environment. It may recommend issues and policies to the Planning Board for inclusion in a municipal master plan and also makes recommendations to the Planning Board and Zoning Board regarding development.
A sub-committee of the Environmental Commission, Sustainable Montgomery (aka The Green Team), assists Montgomery Township in gaining certification through the Sustainable Jersey program. This certification has continued without exception since 2009. The Sustainable Montgomery Committee also works on other sustainability initiatives, such as creating a green purchasing policy and a sustainable land use pledge.
Meetings: The Commission generally meets the first Tuesday of the month from February to August, and third Tuesday from September to January, at 6:00 PM.
