Twp Committee Honors Nat’l Champ Cheerleader Team

On March 21st the Montgomery Township Committee honored the Montgomery Wildcats Pop Warner Cheerleaders, who were crowned National Champions on December 5, 2018 at Walt Disney World Florida.  This occurred after they placed first in the newly-created Performance Sideline Cheer Category at the Pop Warner National Cheer Championships at the 2018 Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships and placed 3rd runner-up in the nation for their Traditional Show Cheer on December 3.

The Pop Warner Cheerleaders outscored the nation’s top youth cheerleading teams in their division who competed at ESPN Wide World of Sports with their 1.5 minute routine that incorporated tumbling, stunting, cheer and dance.

This 17 member squad, who has earned the title of 2018 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, are (in random order):

Alexis Beschner, Brooke Higgins, Claire O’Farrell, Sammy Steele, Carina Davis, Coco Lainez, Samantha Romano, Gabby Vernon, Sydney Feola, Lauren Matthews, Maddie Shea, Lilly Walsh, Paige Gallagher, Paige Morrison, Maddy Steele, Emma Wilson, and Erin Glennon.

The team was supported in its efforts by Head Coach Allison Richmond; Assistant Coaches Pricilla Morrison, Lauren Panasewicz and Melissa Vernon; Team Commissioner Cherise Gallagher; Student Demonstrators Jillian Ark, Caroline Beschner, Kaily Floersch and Lauren Grosso; League Commissioners Therese Glennon and Kimberly O’Farrell; and parents and friends of the Montgomery Wildcats Pop Warner Cheerleaders, all of whom celebrate this accomplishment with pride; and

The Montgomery Township Committee congratulates these champions on their outstanding accomplishment and extends to them best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.

Montgomery Pop Warner Cheerleaders win National and Global Championships!

The Montgomery Wildcats Pop Warner Junior Varsity Level Cheerleaders became Global Champions after winning the YCADA (Youth Cheer and Dance Alliance) Global Cheer Competition on January 19th, at the Ocean Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  The girls performed their traditional, all-music Show Cheer routine for this competition. The team’s two-and-a-half-minute routine incorporated tumbling, stunting and dance.These athletes performed their best routine of the season to place first and earned Championship rings.

Prior to this, on December 5th, the team became National Champions after placing first in the newly-created Performance Sideline Cheer Category at the Pop Warner National Cheer Championships held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida.  Their minute-and-a-half routine consisted of all cheer, including stunting and tumbling.  On December 3rd, the team placed third runner-up in the nation for their other routine,Traditional Show Cheer.

Practicing since August, the team first competed on October 13 at the Jersey Valley Cheer Conference (JVC), held at Montgomery High School, where they placed first and were JVC Champions in both the Performance and Show Cheer categories. This is the first year Pop Warner has allowed teams to compete two routines. These first place wins advanced them to the highly-competitive Eastern Region Championships, held at the Sun Arena in Trenton on November 10.  Competing against top teams from Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, they made history by placing first for both routines, and became Eastern Region Champions for the second year in a row.

In between JVC and Eastern Regions, the squad competed at the NJ State Cheer Competition at Sun Arena in Trenton on October 27, and placed 1st for their Traditional Show Cheer, and 2nd for the Sideline Performance Cheer. They are the first squad in Montgomery Pop Warner Cheer history, to compete two routines in one season and earn championship titles at every competition.

Members of the team in alphabetical order include Alexis Beschner, Carina Davis, Sydney Feola, Paige Gallagher, Erin Glennon, Brooke Higgins, Coco Lainez, Lauren Matthews, Paige Morrison, Claire O’Farrell, Samantha Romano, Maddie Shea, Maddy Steele, Sammy Steele, Gabby Vernon, Lilly Walsh and Emma Wilson.  Student Demonstrators are Jillian Ark, Caroline Beschner, Kailyn Floersch and Lauren Grosso.  League Commissioners are Therese Glennon and Kimberly O’Farrell.  Team Commissioner is Cherise Gallagher.  Head Coach Allison Richmond is assisted by Priscilla Morrison, Lauren Panasewicz and Melissa Vernon.

Many of these athletes have been competing together since elementary school and for the majority, this was their last season competing for Pop Warner as they will be entering high school.  For this team and their families, it represents the end of an era.  This team has represented Montgomery Wildcats Pop Warner Cheer in the best ways possible.  Good luck and go Wildcats!
