New Skillman Park Path Connects 601 Sidewalks

Posted on September 13, 2018

Somerset County is creating a new walking path from Rt. 601 and repaving other pathways at Skillman Park this month.  The County is also repaving multiple roadways across the county including an improvement in Rocky Hill.

The new Skillman Park east-west paved path connects the recently constructed sidewalks on Rt.601 by Montgomery High School into the park on the north side of Main Blvd. On its other end the new pathway connects into the existing network of paths within the park, completing the circuit.  (See aerial photograph below.)

“This is the final connection needed to complete the pedestrian safety project we envisioned a few years ago with input from the town, the school board and community members.  I’m thrilled we could get this done for Montgomery!”  said Somerset County Freeholder Mark Caliguire.

Montgomery Mayor Christine Madrid added, ““A big thank you to our County Freeholders for this new way for residents to access beautiful Skillman Park. It is a great addition to our growing network of pathways as we strive to make Montgomery a more pedestrian-friendly town.”

Milling and paving work runs this week into next and continues throughout the month.
