Sign Up for Emergency Alerts from Somerset County

As part of your household’s ongoing emergency preparedness, Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione encourages you and your family to sign up for free bulletins from Somerset County.

“It’s important to stay informed during severe-weather events,” he said, noting that hurricane season in New Jersey runs June 1 through Nov. 1. “In addition to our email and text alerts, our homepage at will have links to the most up-to-date information. Our social media pages also are updated regularly.”

Alerts cover weather-related county road and bridge closings (Montgomery Note #1: THIS INCLUDES THE GRIGGSTOWN CAUSEWAY BRIDGE), recycling cancellations and delays, senior center closings and other program changes due to inclement weather.

On the county’s Nixle page, you can request email notifications, text alerts or both. The service is free, although cell phone carrier rates may apply to text alerts.
