Recycle Your Christmas Tree – Starts Jan. 11Posted on December 30, 2020
Christmas Tree Collection – Don’t Miss it!
The Montgomery Township Dept. of Public Works will be starting curbside Christmas Tree collection on Monday, January 11, 2021. Trees will be chipped for use as mulch.
- Please do not wait to put your tree(s) out. Your section of the township may be the first area for pick-up service. Trees must be free of tinsel and ornaments.
- We ask everyone to please be patient. Tree collection takes several weeks, the routes are random and pick-up is dependent upon weather conditions.
- You have an alternative. You may drop off your tree at the Dept. of Public Works site at 12 Harlingen Road. This site is available for drop off at any hour, or day, starting December 26, 2020 through January 31, 2021. Trees must be free of tinsel and ornaments.
- Regular tree limbs/brush may be brought to the Public Works yard without charge but only during the regular Saturday drop-off dates from 8am to 12 noon. There is a Container Facility day on Sat., January 9, 2021. Questions – Please call Department of Public Works at 908-874-3144.
The New Jersey Department of Env. Protection reminds constituents that it is not permissible to dispose of Christmas trees through open burning or bonfires. The burning of Christmas tree wood, as opposed to safe wood burning, reduces air quality by creating additional smoke and particulate matter and can increase the risk of wildfires in some areas. DEP suggests more sustainable disposal methods, such as chipping, mulching, and/or dune construction. To see full details of the advisory, please follow this link.
