On May 21, 2021, the Montgomery Township Police Department investigated a 12 year old female reported missing by her parents. The parents contacted the Police Department at approximately 6:00 PM advising their 12 year old daughter had left the residence between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM and had not returned.

The Montgomery Township Police Department quickly mobilized “Search to Locate” efforts which included the Hillsborough Township and Somerset County Sheriff’s Department K-9 units, Montgomery Township OEM, as well as the issuance of a NIXLE alert to locate the missing 12 year old. Shortly after sending out the NIXLE alert which contained a description and recent photo of the child, the Montgomery Police Department received several calls from residents who had reported seeing a juvenile female matching the description in the NIXLE alert. The subject female was located at approximately 8:00 PM near a local business.

The Police Director, Captain James Gill would like to thank everyone involved in the safe recovery of the child. “The Police Department has a duty to protect the citizens in our community. It’s refreshing to know that in times of need, the community members are willing to step up and provide the much needed assistance to accomplish the task. It truly takes a village to raise a child and this is a perfect example of the quality of people that reside in Montgomery and the community we have all created.”
