On Friday March 6, at 9:15 pm, Officer Devlin was on patrol and observed a vehicle parked in a residential construction site on Orchard Road. The vehicle was running with its lights on, but was unoccupied. Officer Devlin made contact with the owner of the vehicle, Ronald Treadwell, 65, of Edison who was determined to be a worker at the site. During the investigation Treadwell was found to have an active warrant for $500.00 out of Newark, NJ. He was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to Montgomery PD where he was processed. Treadwell was able to post bail for his warrant and was released pending a future court date in Newark.
On March 7, 2015 at 11:33 p.m., police responded to the area of Sunset Road and Route 206 for a report of a possible DWI driver. The driver later identified as Kenneth Whalen, 60, of Plainfield. K. Whalen had driven his vehicle off the roadway along Route 206 near Harlingen Road. During the investigation, Whalen exhibited signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking prior to driving. Police subjected Whalen to field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested and transported to Montgomery Police HQ for processing. Whalen’s vehicle was towed from the scene. At Headquarters, Whalen was charged with DWI, careless driving and failure to keep right and released to a family member. Whalen is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.
On March 8, 2015 at 1:19 A.M., Adam S. Jaffe, 26, of Hopewell, NJ was stopped on Cherry Valley Road near Rutgers Lane after police observed him driving over the double yellow line while heading west. During the stop, a strong odor of marijuana was present and Jaffe exhibited signs of impairment. Jaffe admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the evening. Police subjected Jaffe to standardized field sobriety tests. Jaffe was subsequently arrested for DWI and transported to Montgomery Police HQ for processing. Jaffe’s vehicle was towed from the scene. At headquarters, Jaffe was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Use and Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Jaffe was then released to a friend. Jaffe is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.
