On Monday August 29th, at 6:09 p.m., Montgomery Police responded to Route 518 near the intersection of Spring Hill Road for a hit and run motor vehicle crash involving a bicycle. Upon arrival police provided aid to the bicyclist until the arrival of EMS. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital by Montgomery EMS 47 and RWJ Paramedics for his injuries. The crash investigation led police to Anthony Casale, 67, of Skillman, NJ, who was found to have a vehicle in his driveway matching the description of the involved vehicle which had fled the scene, exhibiting damage consistent with that of the accident. Casale was interviewed at police headquarters where it was determined he was the operator of the vehicle in the hit and run. Casale was issued citations for failure to maintain lane, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident with injury. Casale is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Twp. Municipal Court.
