Montgomery’s Natural Resource InventoryPosted on March 11, 2020
The Montgomery Township Environmental Commission and Sustainable Montgomery invite you to join us on March 3 at 6:30PM in the Courtroom of the Municipal Building (2261 Van Horne Road, Belle Mead) to learn more about the Township’s Natural Resource Inventory (NRI).
The Township recently updated the NRI, an important foundational reference document. The NRI is a report that catalogs the Township’s natural features such as wetlands, land use, geology, air quality, preserved lands and more. It serves as a baseline for the Township by identifying significant resources, assessing their current condition, and recommending how to best protect and/or improve these resources, for example, through policy changes and pilot projects. The Township’s previous NRI dates to 2004, but utilized data largely from the 1990s. The Environmental Commission felt it was critical to update this report, which serves as a significant reference and guidance document for the governing body, Planning & Zoning Board, and Township staff. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about the Township, and what you can do to preserve and protect what makes our Township special.
Light refreshments will be provided. Please pass this note along to anyone else who may be interested in attending the meeting or reading the updated report.
The report is posted on the Township website under Planning Reports.
