Millstone Valley’s Bird I.D. event May 14thPosted on April 20, 2016
The Millstone Valley Preservation Coalition is sponsoring a bird identification experience for both those who are knowledgeable birders and those with no experience whatsoever, but would like to learn. Several years ago Franklin Township purchased and, with advice from NJ Audubon, cleared multiflora rose and brambles from old fields above Canal Road in Griggstown.
Ted Chase, Franklin Township Councilman, Rutgers Professor and very experienced birder, will lead a group on Saturday May 14 (rain date Sunday May 15) at 8 am to identify various species by sight and song. Ted chose the date to take advantage of the height of the spring migration, and the expectation is seeing and hearing a lot of birds. So, if you always wanted to know who has been serenading you in your backyard, now is your chance to find out.
No prior knowledge is required, no fee is involved, field glasses are not necessary, but if you have them bring them. Registration is required please call Liz Palius at (908) 874-3820 to reserve a space.
