RELAUNCH! Stagnation, Change, and Renewal in Mid-Career and Beyond’
In a time of historically high unemployment and the uncertainty associated with COVID-19, this upcoming and informative career webinar will offer participants a message of hope and action for finding job fulfillment.
The Sept. 23 virtual webinar features Steven Simon, Ph.D., president/CEO of Human Services Outcomes, and author of “RELAUNCH! Stagnation, Change, and Renewal in Mid-Career and Beyond.” Simon will address the major career challenges for those in mid- and late-career and refer to information from his book. He will then present a simple model for making job changes over a career that can keep one in the “sweet spot” of feeling passion for and meaning about one’s work.
The sponsors include a variety of organizations focused on career and job development in the region. The workshop is organized by the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Training Center and is a system partner of the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board, which serves Hunterdon and Somerset counties. The program is also sponsored by the New Start Career Network, a program of the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University, and Jewish Family Services of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties.
“This presentation is designed to appeal to a variety of audiences,” said Jan Goodman, program organizer and community outreach specialist for the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Training Center. “Those newly unemployed due to COVID as well as the long-term unemployed who are searching for answers on how to enter a new career field or regain meaningful employment. So, too, will those who are feeling unsatisfied in their current job and looking to feel passionate again about their work.
“In addition to job seekers, practitioners working in the employment field – such as career counselors and coaches, mental health counselors and life coaches – will also gain valuable information from Simon’s message and experience in academia, career counseling, career development and rehabilitation counseling,” said Goodman.
Simon is a career consultant, who works nationwide. He has a doctorate in counselor education from Kent State University and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Florida. He has vast experience in career counseling as a supervisory psychologist, and in business leadership with a specialization in career and job issues. He has served as an adjunct graduate school faculty member at the University of South Florida, Kent State University, Ohio State University and others. Simon is a licensed counselor in several states; he is a certified career counselor, a certified rehabilitation counselor, and a board-certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH).
