RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY OWNERS: APPLY FOR NJ HOMESTEAD BENEFIT BY NOV. 30
The NJ Division of Taxation has been mailing New Jersey homeowners filing information for the 2018 Homestead Benefit. If you are a homeowner whose primary residence is in New Jersey, who qualifies by income, who paid your 2018 property taxes, and who applies by November 30, 2021, this benefit will be issued as a credit on your 2022 Municipal Property Tax bill. The benefit amount has not yet been determined.
The program rules and online application are found at nj.gov/taxation (click on Property Tax Relief Programs). The automated telephone filing system and this website will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the filing period.
Look for your application in the mail now, then apply to the State of NJ before November 30. If you previously chose to receive the State’s information mailer via email, you will receive an email instead of a postal mailing. To apply by phone or online, you will need your Identification Number and PIN, found in the 2018 Homestead mailer. If you applied for a 2017 Homestead Rebate, you can instead look up your ID and PIN by your social security number here. You will also need to provide your 2018 New Jersey Gross Income.
