Mayor Sadaf Jaffer (pictured above, left) read the Cadets names and the Montgomery Twp. Proclamation honoring them, stating, “The Montgomery Twp. Committee congratulates all of the 2019 Montgomery EMS Cadet Program graduates on all their accomplishments and expressed deep gratitude for their continued commitment to the citizens of Montgomery Township.”

These Cadets joined the Montgomery EMS as early as age 16; have completed the full, rigorous 210 hour EMT certification class and passed the State EMT test over the past two years; have volunteered with Montgomery EMS at least 20 hours a month; have assisted in squad fundraising activities; have stood by to provide medical support for a multitude of community events; and have served the health and safety of residents through thousands of volunteer hours on 9-1-1 duty shifts.

According to Cadet Advisor and Squad Captain Johanna Snedecker (pictured above, right), of special note are those cadets who have earned “Senior Cadet Leader” status by completing an additional 450 on-call hours and 75 additional calls.  To date the cadets who have achieved this goal are: Gracious Anithanam, Giulia Gerschel, Parin Panji, Fawaz Tahir, Saud Tahir, and Nadita Vasantha.  (The other Cadets are expected to earn this goal by end of this summer.)

Montgomery EMS was officially formed on June 1, 1972, when it consisted of approximately 50 volunteer members who provided emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  For more information on MEMS, go to their website at: https://www.mems47.org/
