Former Mayor Robert W. Kress, 1939-2018

Former Mayor Robert W. Kress was honored in memoriam by the Montgomery Township Committee at their meeting April 19th. Mayor Mark Conforti called for a moment of silence upon hearing of Mr. Kress’ passing April 17th at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. The Township Committee remembered Mr. Kress in great appreciation for his many, many years of active volunteer service to Montgomery Township and expressed their intention to pass a resolution in his honor and to present the same to his widow and family at a time to be announced. Mr. Kress and his wife, Kathleen Kress, recently moved from Montgomery to retire closer to family in Gainesville, Virginia.

Former Mayor Kress was an inexhaustible asset to Montgomery. A hard worker and very dedicated to his community, family and friends, he fought many battles and accomplished many things influencing the town that Montgomery is today. Mr. Kress served Montgomery in the following official capacities, according to available records of the municipal clerk:

Mr. Kress’s presence was already missed from the Township upon his retirement move, but he will truly be missed now by all who came to know him.
