Exec. Order #147 – Outdoor Tennis Courts in Montgomery to Reopen FridayPosted on May 21, 2020
In light of Governor Murphy’s executive order #147, effective Friday May 22, public tennis courts within all Montgomery Township municipal parks will be open for use with the following restrictions by Montgomery Township:
- Courts may be used for singles play only, no doubles
- Courts may only be used for tennis, no pickleball
- All previously outlined social distancing guidelines must be followed
- There shall be no congregation in or around the courts while waiting for a court to become available
The restrictions on the use of basketball courts, playgrounds, sports fields, or any contact sports within Montgomery public parks remain in effect at this time.
Executive Order #147 allows outdoor tennis clubs (private) and community gardens to reopen and “some additional outdoor recreational areas and businesses to restart their operations,” including batting cages, golf ranges, shooting and archery ranges and horseback riding. Golfers may also now tee-off in foursomes.
NOTE: In Montgomery’s private tennis clubs there is no state restriction on play of doubles on outdoor courts. Indoor court activity has not yet been reopened. More restrictive rules may be set by the individual clubs.
