Dedicate a Tree to Honor Someone in the Montgomery Twp. ArboretumPosted on July 18, 2016
One of the great resources of Montgomery Township is its Arboretum of Native Flora located next to Montgomery Park and bounded by Harlingen Rd and Mill Pond Rd.
Started in 1997 by Montgomery Township and the Shade Tree Committee with a Green Acres grant, the Arboretum now has more than a hundred labeled native trees and shrubs along its paved pathways (and thirty additional labels will be installed beside recently-planted trees by this fall).
Many of the trees have special “In Memory of” plaques next to them. There are also a number of benches with memorial inscriptions distributed throughout the Arboretum. Anyone can make a donation to the Shade Tree Committee for a native tree of their choice with a corresponding plaque or a bench in memory or in honor of a loved one, including pets. Such gifts make the Arboretum a very personal and more beautiful place for many residents and their families. A donation of $300 is requested for the planting of a tree and a $1200 donation for a bench.
If you know of anyone who might be interested in making a memorial donation for a tree or bench in the Arboretum, it would be appreciated if you could pass along this link to a copy of the Arboretum Donation Form, found on the Montgomery Twp. website : https://twp.montgomery.nj.us/twpcommittee/ArboretumDonationForm.pdf
For those interested in exploring the Arboretum, there is a map in the map shelter at the entrance to the Arboretum in the lower parking lot at Montgomery Park near the concession stand.
