NEW EARTH DAY EVENTS FOR TOMORROW
Tomorrow is the 50TH Anniversary of Earth Day. Montgomery Twp. Environmental Commission / Sustainable Montgomery have gathered some great ideas to help our residents celebrate Earth Day at Home!
We have added special events happening ‘live’ tomorrow, including New Jersey’s Changing Climate, a presentation by Dr. David A. Robinson from Rutgers University at 1 PM (registration required); a documentary broadcast premiere at 2 PM (The Story of Plastic); and a ‘live’ viewing event by ANJEC at 7:30 PM (Saving the Great Swamp).
Find these and more on our Earth Day website at edf.montgomery.nj.us and explore the 50+ Earth Day activities, including free swamp milkweed plants available tomorrow out front of town hall after 10 AM; viewing the Eagle Cam at Duke Farms, starting a backyard compost pile, and much more!
SEWER DEPT. REMINDER: PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH WIPES
During the COVID-19 emergency, it has been in the news in many places that sewerage treatment systems are being clogged by ‘flushable’ wipes, which actually do not easily degrade. Montgomery Twp. is no exception. Please remember to go easy (pun intended) on our Sewerage Treatment system here in town and only flush the things you must, including toilet paper. PLEASE put the rest in the trash, including paper towels and ‘flushable’, anti-bacterial, ‘wet’, baby and disinfectant wipes. We are fortunate to have a very dedicated DPW Sewer Division staff and they are very busy keeping everything flowing in the right direction. Equipment can break when avoidable tangles and clogs cause back-ups … and that costs everyone. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
