‘Curbing Hunger’ Night Wed. 6/10 at TD Bank BallparkPosted on June 8, 2015
Freeholder Director Mark Caliguire invites baseball fans to step up to the plate and help the hungry in Somerset County by bringing canned food donations to the June 10 game at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater.
The Somerset Patriots will play the Camden Riversharks starting at 7:05 p.m. A table staffed by Curbing Hunger Inc. volunteers will be set up near the turnstiles at the ballpark entrance starting at 5 p.m.
Anyone bringing at least one can of food will receive a ticket voucher for that night’s game, which also features a post-game fireworks show. Pre-paid ticket holders can redeem the voucher for another game during the 2015 season.
The food collection at the ballpark is being held as part of the 21st annual Curbing Hunger Month food drive in Somerset County. The Somerset County Board of Freeholders have proclaimed June as Curbing Hunger Month and encourage county residents to put canned food donations in plastic bags at the curb on their regular recycling days throughout the month. Donated food goes to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, the Franklin Township Food Bank and other local food pantries. There also is an easy online-donation option at www.CurbingHunger2015.org
