Congregation Kehilat Shalom Open House May 4th

Posted on April 23, 2014

Congregation Kehilat Shalom (CKS) is holding a Congregational and Religious School open house on May 4th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.  Meet Rabbi Susan Falk and Shari Rothstein, Religious School Principal, take a tour of the Religious School, visit with congregants over bagels and coffee and get a car wash from members of Kehiloft, our Hebrew High School.

CKS, a Reconstructionist synagogue, is a warm and welcoming community dedicated to serving the spiritual, educational, cultural and social needs of a diverse congregation. Reconstructionism is a progressive and contemporary approach to Jewish life that respects tradition, but is also open to new interpretations and forms of Jewish practice.

CKS offers a home to Jewish families of all kinds and stages of life such as interfaith, families with young children and/or teens, singles and seniors.  Our offerings include Religious School, Kehiloft (Hebrew High), adult education, Tikkun Olam/Social Action committee, social events, “empty-nester” activities, Kol Ahava Choir, book club, Mah Jong group, Sunday morning bagel café and more.

CKS is located at 253 Belle Mead–Griggstown Road in Belle Mead, NJ 08502.

The CKS Religious School explores Jewish traditions and culture that range from prayers, Hebrew instruction, and Torah to cooking, history, music, art, and Israel. In addition, we have special Family education programs and grade level home celebrations throughout the year. Grades K-7 meet on Sundays from 9am-noon.

Torah T.E.C.H (Teach Each Child Hebrew), is a technological learning program designed to reinforce Hebrew reading skills outside of the classroom.  4th, 5th and 6th grade students will video-conference for a thirty minute, one-on-one session, with an
experienced Hebrew teacher. Each session will be crafted to reinforce the week’s in-class Hebrew lesson, concentrating on the student’s individual needs.

Students in grades 8-12 can participate in Kehiloft, our Hebrew High program. Kehiloft, which meets weekly, is an engaging discussion and social group that actively participates in CKS by leading Shabbat services, spearheading CKS and community service projects, and mentoring younger students.

Congregation Kehilat Shalom (CKS) is taking enrollment applications for the 2014-2015 Religious School year.  If you cannot make our open house on May 4th,  private tours are available.  For more information, cal 908-359-0420.
