Census Reminder: Call Those Who Count on You!Posted on May 26, 2020
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27 is a Day of Action for the census in New Jersey. Please remember to ‘Call Those Who Count On You’ to see how they’re doing and to ask them to fill out their all-important census. This will really help Montgomery and other New Jersey communities over the next 10 years. Accurate census data will be very instrumental in helping to build a better future and stronger communities for us all. The federal funds we get are informed by census data and will go a long way to helping with our COVID-19 recovery.
Here’s how the call program works – You call at least five friends, neighbors or family members to check and see how they are doing. Then also ask if they’ve had a chance to fill out their census. If they haven’t, below is a link that provided info so that you can tell them why it’s so important / answer typical questions. Then ask those who said yes to call five of their friends and family members – and so on, and so on. See script and facts about the census at: https://nj.gov/state/census-outreach.shtml You can report back your results there too (optional).
As a friend, neighbor, or relative you are a trusted voice and there is no one more effective than YOU to ask those you know to fill out the census. Thank you!
P.S. Western Montgomery has a lower response rate in town at 71%, while northern Belle Mead is highest at 83% (May 25), but both continue to increase significantly in the last few weeks and are better than many surrounding areas. Congratulations to those who are responding and telling friends – you are improving our count already!
