Call for Tree Planting Volunteers Fri., Oct. 23rd

Posted on October 20, 2015

Calling all volunteers!

The Open Space Committee and Montgomery Friends of Open Space, with the help of the Somerset County Park Commission, is hosting a fall tree planting project at Skillman Park.  This is part of a series of plantings to improve water quality and reforest the stream corridor along Rock Brook.  In the past year, we’ve added about 100 plants, and will add 35 more with this planting.

Bring your favorite shovel, work/garden gloves and drinking water, and help us plant some trees at this newly opened Park!  We’re very thankful that the County Park Commission staff have prepped the planting sites, so we don’t have to dig through the hard shale!

Volunteers are needed on Friday, October 23 from 9:00 AM to noon (approximately).

Interested volunteers should park in “Parking Lot C”, and walk south past the gazebo/kiosk area toward the stream.  If you’re not familiar with Skillman Park, you can use the address of Village Elementary School for your GPS or online mapping:  130 Main Boulevard, Skillman, NJ 08558.  The parking lot is clearly marked, on the opposite side of the road from the school.

Please contact Lauren Wasilauski, Open Space Coordinator at (908) 359-8211 ext. 343 or via email at: with any questions.

Thank you,

Clem Fiori
