Administrator Nieman Honored for Exceptional Public ServicePosted on January 14, 2015
The International City and County Managers Association recently honored Montgomery Township Administrator Donato Nieman for his 30+ years of service as a Municipal Manager and Township Administrator. Members of the Montgomery Township Committee took this opportunity to express their heartfelt appreciation for Donato Nieman’s many contributions to Montgomery Township.
Donato Nieman actually has over 35 years total public sector experience in various capacities as a Purchasing/Personnel Officer and Assistant Township Manager for Franklin Township, and Township Administrator in Branchburg, South Brunswick, and now for Montgomery for 16 years to date.
The Township Committee acknowledged Mr. Nieman and his years of service, stating that he has set a standard for excellence in public service with his determination, professionalism and good humor. “Donato has given his utmost to the people of Montgomery, who in turn have benefited by his commitment to, knowledge of, and love for this community,” read their resolution.
The governing body thanked Donato for his service at their December 18th meeting by presenting him with a signed and framed resolution, stating that his civic dedication is a measure of character and achievement and that he has established the highest bar in supporting Montgomery’s elected leadership, in leading its municipal staff, as well as providing strong, capable, and ethical oversight to the Montgomery community.
Mr. Nieman responded deferentially to being honored. “I wish to express my thanks to all the Township Committees that I have served over the years for their support. My success could also only have been achieved with the help of the Montgomery staff, an extremely professional and exceptionally competent group,” he said.
Mr. Nieman’s ICCMA plaque and Township Committee’s resolution join many earlier accolades for his meritorious public service, displayed on his office wall. He says he enjoys his day-to-day duties as Montgomery’s administrator as well as meeting the diverse challenges of his job. He also continues to share his expertise with various organizations to which he belongs, including the International City and County Managers Association, the New Jersey Municipal Managers Association, the Somerset County Municipal Managers Association, the Bloomsburg University Alumni Board of Trustees, and the Rutgers University School of Public Affairs and Public Administration Alumni Board of Trustees.
