Senior Finance Aide – The Township of Montgomery is accepting applications for the position of Senior Finance Aide. Full time - Union Position - Monday - Friday - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provides and oversees customer relations at tax window & finance department
  • Prints and mails all tax and sewer service bills
  • Collects tax and sewer payments (checks, cash and via website) and posts to computer system
  • Calculates redemptions and liens
  • Files State of NJ senior and veteran reports
  • Organizes and prepares Township for annual Tax Sale
  • Manages accounts in lien status (posting fees, subsequent payments, redemptions, foreclosures)
  • Maintains revenue and expenditure records, posting entries from supporting records, making adjusting entries, balancing against other records and preparing reports from such records.
  • Prepares and makes journal entries
  • Responds to tax and billing questions
  • Prepares tax searches as necessary
  • Prepares and sends tax and sewer delinquent notices
  • Creates & Produces reports as requested
  • Assists finance office as needed
  • Scan appropriate documents to journal entries and purchase orders.
  • Assist in making copies, filing, and other clerical duties as needed
  • Creates requisitions for department as needed
  • Receives and accounts for monies received from other departments and maintains such records.
  • Verifies and posts to accounts in journals or computer files.
  • Creates deposits on monies received and transmits/sends to banking institution.
  • Reconciles and balances bank accounts.
  • Assist with preparation of bank reconciliations
  • Assist with escrows
  • Creates bill list.
  • Process purchase orders for payments.
  • Prepare and issue payroll and vendor checks.
  • Assists CFO with data for budget and other requests
  • Assist finance with shared service responsibilities
  • Maintains tax website is up to date
  • Other duties as assigned by the Tax Collector or Chief Financial Officer 

Required skills & knowledge:

  •  Knowledge of NJ taxation laws and procedures, ability to follow complex directions as it relates to the computer system, ability to prepare complex financial reports, ability to maintain confidentiality and good judgment.  Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, superiors, residents and other parties.  Ability to maintain a good attendance record.   Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, outlook, access and power point.

Additional Requirements:

Effective 9/1/11, all employees of State and local government must reside in the State of NJ, unless exempted.

Must have a valid NJ Driver’s License

Starting salary of $26.89 per hour.
