Primary Election Registration Deadline & Evening Hours 5/17

Posted on April 23, 2016

May 17, 2016 is the last opportunity to register to vote for the upcoming Primary Election, which will be held on Tuesday, June 7th.  There is no special registration for primaries.  If you have registered to vote before and have voted in a recent election, you are a registered voter.  Clicking on the above “Am I Registered” button will take you to a webpage where you can check that you are registered.  If you are not registered, see below for special extended hours at the Somerset County Board of Elections.

If you declared a party when you registered, that is the party you must vote in the primary.  The deadline passed in April to switch from one of the two parties to the other.  If you are an undeclared voter, you can still vote either democratic or republican (the only two party choices) in the primary by declaring a party at the polls.  You may switch your party or back to independent status or to another party at any time.  Party declaration will not limit you as to candidates for which you can vote in the general election.

Please find linked below the evening registration hours for each of the 21 counties for the June 7, 2016 Primary Election. Somerset County’s Board of Elections will be open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on May 17th for this purpose.  Following is the Somerset’s contact information:
