TODAY’S COVID-19 CASE SUMMARY
There have been ten (10) new cases in Montgomery and Rocky Hill since our last report on Wednesday, 12-9-20. See full case report at the end of this ebulletin.
MONTY COVID CASES REMAIN ELEVATED
With 52 new cases over the last 7 days, Montgomery’s volume of new infections remains extremely high, according to the Montgomery Township Health Department. Over the last four weeks combined, the township has reported 222 cases, nearly half the total since the start of the pandemic.
Montgomery Township Health Officer Stephanie D. Carey recommends avoiding holiday travel this month, as does the Centers for Disease Control. She spoke in more depth with Montgomery Mayor Sadaf Jaffer in a new video released today.
BEWARE OF CRYPTOCURRENCY SCAM
Montgomery Police wish to inform residents of a scam involving cryptocurrency. Recently, a resident was contacted by a male claiming to be from the United States Marshall’s Service and suggesting there was a problem with the resident’s Social Security Number.
The male told the resident that a member of the Montgomery Township Police Department would call with further instructions. The resident received a call from the Montgomery Police non-emergency number, 908-874-3333, which was spoofed by the scammers. Believing that the call was legitimate because it is a valid phone number for MTPD, the resident complied with the scammers.
Montgomery Police remind residents that this department and any other legitimate government agency will not solicit any type of payment via telephone, especially payment via cryptocurrency.
