TODAY’S COVID-19 CASE SUMMARY
There have been twenty-nine (29) new cases in Montgomery and Rocky Hill over the five days since our last report on Friday, 1-15-21. Detailed case report at the end of this ebulletin.
VACCINATION ROLL-OUT WILL REQUIRE PATIENCE
New Jersey is experiencing a big gap between the large demand for vaccines and a very limited supply, leading to frustration for many eligible residents in Montgomery Township and statewide.
Soon after New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations has been expanded to all persons aged 65 and older and persons with underlying conditions, the Federal government announced that a promised stockpile of vaccines was not available for delivery to the states.
Montgomery Township recommends that all residents pre-register via New Jersey’s COVID Vaccine website, covidvaccine.nj.gov, where you will be asked a few questions to identify the order of vaccination for which you are qualified. Contact information, including an email address, your physical address, and a phone number will be requested. When your turn arrives, you then will receive an email with links to make an appointment at a nearby vaccination site. This may take several weeks to a few months, depending on how fast vaccine manufacturing and distribution to the states ramp up.
If you are age 65 or over, and do not have access to the internet, Montgomery Health Department is maintaining a notification list for when more vaccine doses become available locally. To get on this list, call 908-359-8211 x2400. If you have a neighbor without internet access, consider bringing this phone number to his or her attention.
In the meantime, everyone still needs to practice masking and social distancing as we work to get the most vulnerable people and first responders in our communities vaccinated.
